Camp Testimonials

Brooke

Hey, I’m Brooke and I go to San Juan Hills High School. I am currently Captain of Varsity cheer, a section leader in my school’s Chamber Choir, Vice President of my school’s Interact club, and also volunteer in other clubs at my school as well. Next year I will be going to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and double-majoring in Music for Education and Math for Education. I want to teach math (Algebra 1) and choir at a high school. Outside of school I also take song writing classes. I love being able to come back this year as RYLA Alumni and I am so excited for you all to have an amazing life-changing experience. Being an alumni this year has been so much fun and I hope all of you want to come back next year. Enjoy your weekend!!!

Samuel Baek

Samuel Baek is the name of this Korean-American you see in the picture. I am president of my Interact Club at Buena Park High School and am proudly to say that I am a Coyote in Coyote Country. I do have a numerous amount of hobbies such as; video games, volunteering, photography, making a difference, eating and many more. Making a difference to someone or something in life, always gives me the satisfaction of feeling accomplished or just joyful. I am particularly known as the spontaneous kid in class that loves asking questions, the one whose aspiration is to travel in Peace Corps, and one who excitably wants to learn more about his religion in Christianity. Thus concluding this biography about me will be a favorite quote of mine: “Life’s like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get.”

Hi! My name is Sydney Murai, I am 17 years old and I go to Laguna Hills High School. I am just like you a high school student trying to get through the year. I play tennis and I am apart of the yearbook staff. I am so ready to finish up the last 4 months of my senior year and start the transfer program at saddleback community college! I am so excited to have all of you guys come to the camp that made a big difference in my life. I hope you all enjoy the bonds you create!

Tory Lynde

Hey campers, welcome to RYLA 2012! My name’s Tory Lynde and I am a senior at Laguna Beach High School. I’ve been told to share some interesting thing about me with you, so here goes…. I’ve been competing in synchronized swimming since I was seven years old, I’m ranked nationally, and do water shows with a professional show group (you might recognize some of my teammates, they were the mermaids in the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and in a recent Glee episode!) When I’m not swimming or at school, I lifeguard and teach swimming at the big aquatic center in Irvine. It’s the best job in the world; I love teaching little kids how to master strokes. I enjoy traveling and experiencing new cultures; I do lots of volunteer work – I started the Operations Smiles Club and Interact Club on campus. I enjoy singing but can’t carry a tune and drive everyone crazy when I try. I’m still waiting to hear back from some of my college choices, so I’m not sure where I’ll be going, but I do know I want to major in economics – it’s fascinating to study why people make the decisions they do and look at how their actions can affect everyone else. And, I’m also a sister – see if you can figure out which one of you guys is my brother! I went to RYLA last year as a camper, and loved the experience so much I wanted to come back as an alumni to help others have as great an experience. So get ready to meet some captivating people, learn some valuable new skills, and go to new heights!
